A second financial assistance program for people living with a spinal cord injury

RELEASE

Montreal, January 25th, 2018 – MEMO-Qc is glad to announce the creation of the Fonds 33, implemented as a result of a collaboration between the Fondation MEMO-Qc and the Fondation 33. The Fonds 33 offers financial support to improve the quality of life of people living with a spinal cord injury.

Walter Zelaya, Executive Director of MEMO-Qc, thanks Maxime Girard, Executive Director of Fondation 33, for the realization of this $ 75,000 partnership over three years to financially support people with a spinal cord injury who are dealing with financial stresses as a result of their injury. This fund is the second financial assistance program launched by the Fondation MEMO-Qc since the fall. The first program supports clients with a spinal cord injury with a financial support of up to $ 1,000 and applications can be submitted throughout the year. The Fonds 33, meanwhile, offers a larger financial aid of up to $ 5,000.

The fund aims to promote the improvement of the quality of life, autonomy, social integration, to give respite to the person concerned as well as his/her entourage and allow access to services or care that are not covered or which are not accessible for different reasons.

Fonds 33 will support MEMO-Qc members in their health, social services, recreation and education needs. Financial support can help cover the costs of home adaptations, the purchase of specialized equipment, access to a resource or health specialist, the purchase of tickets for cultural or sport activities, or a trip for a caregiver, an attendant or the costs of training.

All applications must be completed between February 1st and February 28th, 2018. Applications will be analyzed during the month of March and a written response will be given to the applicants during the month of April.
